Mid-East Development Corporation

The Mid-East Development Corporation (MEDC) was organized by the Mid-East Commission Board of Directors in 1990 to serve as a vehicle to help fill gaps in the region. MEDC is a 501(c)(3) corporation. The non-profit corporation is governed by the Mid-East Commission Executive Committee. The corporation operates through administrative support from the Mid-East Commission staff, grants, private contributions, donations, rental income, and loans. Rental property is managed by private management companies. Currently there is only one staff member who operates the Seniors’ Center in Belhaven.

Purposes:

The corporation is organized for the primary purposes of facilitating affordable housing and linking health and social services to housing.

Powers:

The corporation can access, develop and participate in the financing of housing and service options in the community.
